Where are my notes stored?
Your notes are plain .md files saved in your own iCloud Drive, inside iCloud Drive → SoloWrite → SoloWriteNotes. They belong to you: you can open, copy or back them up with the Files app, Finder, or any other Markdown editor.
Do my notes sync between iPhone and Mac?
Yes. Both apps read and write the same folder in your iCloud Drive, so your saved notes — and even the draft you're currently writing — follow you between devices. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive enabled on both.
My notes aren't showing up. What can I check?
First, confirm iCloud Drive is enabled in Settings → your name → iCloud. Large libraries can take a moment to download the first time. If a note still doesn't appear, open the Files app and look inside iCloud Drive → SoloWrite — if the file is there with a cloud icon, tap it once to force the download.
How does the Markdown rendering work?
SoloWrite renders Markdown live in the editor itself — headings, bold, italics, quotes, inline code, code blocks, lists, links, ==highlights== and ~~strikethrough~~. There is no separate preview mode: what you type is what you see, instantly. The </> button opens a snippet bar that inserts the most common Markdown for you.
How do I change the theme or the language?
Open Settings (the gear icon on iPhone, or ⌘ , on Mac). You'll find 12 themes that restyle the entire app, plus a language picker for English and Spanish that applies immediately — no restart needed.
Can I open .md files from Finder on my Mac?
Yes. In the Mac app, open Settings (⌘ ,) → Files, and click "Use SoloWrite for .md files". From then on, double-clicking any Markdown file in Finder opens it directly in SoloWrite, and your edits are saved back to that same file.
Is there a subscription?
No. SoloWrite is a one-time purchase. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no locked features.
What do I need to run it?
SoloWrite requires iOS 17.6 or later on iPhone. The native Mac companion requires macOS 15.6 or later.
Does SoloWrite collect any data?
No. There are no accounts, no analytics and no servers. Everything stays on your devices and in your personal iCloud. See the
